American pop-rock band Gin Blossoms is set to hold a concert this week to raise funds for victims of super typhoon “Yolanda” (international name Haiyan).
The band will perform on November 21 at Stage 48, 605 West 48th Street in New York City in a show billed as “Gin Blossoms – Rockin’ for Philippines.”
We hope everyone will come to Stage 48 this coming Thursday, Nov 21st for a Rockin’ fun night and help the Philippine people in need!” Gin Blossoms vocalist Robin Wilson was quoted as saying on the band’s official website.
Gin Blossoms also encouraged its fans to make a monetary donation to the Red Cross for “Yolanda” victims.
“Any amount our fans and friends can afford will offer much relief to effected families fast,” Wilson said.
Guitarist Jesse Valenzuela, for his part, said: “We performed in Manila less than a month ago. It’s so tragic that this has effected so many of those wonderful people.”
Gin Blossoms and two other bands – Sugar Ray and Smash Mouth – held a concert at the Araneta Coliseum last October 21.
The official death toll from “Yolanda” is now near the 4,000 mark, with the figure expected to rise as many more remain missing.
