🍿 The Employee Who Always Gave Extra
Marcus had a simple rule:
If the company was going to make millions, he could at least make someone's day.
It started at the movie theater.
Marcus worked behind the popcorn counter at AMC, where he quickly discovered something: a small popcorn didn't look very small when you poured it into a large bucket.
So whenever someone ordered a small, Marcus would “accidentally” fill a large bucket.
Then he'd look at the screen behind him.
“Oh no…”
He'd sigh dramatically.
“We're all out of small buckets.”
The customer would stare at the mountain of popcorn.
Marcus would shrug.
“Guess you'll have to take this one.”
People loved him.
Management?
Not so much.
After one too many suspicious “accidents,” Marcus was called into the office.
“You understand why this is a problem, right?”
Marcus nodded.
“Absolutely.”
“You're giving away product.”
Marcus smiled.
“I'm giving people popcorn.”
And just like that, Marcus was out of a job.
🍗 Chapter Two: McDonald's
A few weeks later, Marcus started working at McDonald's.
On his first day, his manager gave him one very important instruction:
“Follow the order exactly.”
Marcus nodded.
“Got it.”
Then came his first customer.
“Six-piece nuggets, please.”
Marcus opened the box.
Six nuggets.
He looked at them.
Then looked at the customer.
Then looked at the nuggets again.
He added two more.
Eight.
The next customer ordered six.
Marcus gave them nine.
Someone ordered ten.
Marcus stared at the box.
“Ten?”
He quietly added three more.
Thirteen.
His coworker noticed.
“Dude, what are you doing?”
Marcus whispered:
“Making the world a slightly better place.”
Word spread.
Soon customers started coming through the drive-thru.
“Six-piece?”
Eight nuggets.
“Ten-piece?”
Thirteen.
Eventually, one regular customer leaned toward the window and asked:
“Are you the extra-nugget guy?”
Marcus grinned.
“Depends who's asking.”
😂 Then Everything Changed
One afternoon, Marcus's manager walked into the kitchen.
He saw a six-piece box.
Opened it.
Counted.
Nine.
He opened another.
Eight.
Another.
Nine.
He slowly turned toward Marcus.
“Why?”
Marcus didn't even try to deny it.
“People are hungry.”
“You're supposed to give them six.”
“I know.”
“You're costing the restaurant money.”
Marcus nodded.
“Probably.”
The manager sighed.
Marcus looked around at the busy restaurant.
Families eating together.
Kids smiling.
A tired nurse grabbing dinner after a long shift.
A construction worker ordering food before heading home.
And he smiled.
“Look, I know I'm not running the company.”
He handed the manager a box.
“But if I have to choose between making a corporation slightly richer and making someone's day slightly better…”
He pushed the box toward him.
“I know which one I'm choosing.”
The manager stared at him.
Then opened the box.
Thirteen nuggets.
He shook his head.
“You're unbelievable.”
Marcus smiled.
“So… want some?”
The manager tried not to laugh.
He failed.

Marcus eventually became known around town as “The Extra Nugget Guy.”
People would come in just hoping he'd be working.
Some ordered six.
Some ordered ten.
One customer even whispered:
“Give me the Marcus special.”
Marcus knew exactly what that meant.
Add a few more.
He never became rich.
He never became famous.
And he certainly never became a corporate executive.
But years later, people still remembered him.
Not because he followed every rule.
Not because he climbed the corporate ladder.
But because when he had the chance to give someone a little extra…
he did.
Because sometimes, making someone's day doesn't require a grand gesture.
Sometimes it's just three extra nuggets in a cardboard box. 🍗❤️
