Small Acts of Kindness

>> Wednesday, September 16, 2026

We have a boarder who recently lost her mom. It was just the two of them, so you can imagine how big of an adjustment this has been for her. Her dad was supposedly going to pay for her rent, water, and electricity, but the situation changed because he already has his own family now.

She wanted to live with her dad so she could continue studying, but unfortunately, she doesn’t get along well with her stepmom.

So my mom told her that she can just stay here in the unit for now.

She doesn’t have to worry about rent or bills until she finds a job and can stand on her own.

Now, I sometimes knock on her door just to ask if she’s eaten yet. 😭 If we have extra food, I give her some too.

We’re not exactly well-off financially, but we just thought that maybe this is one of those times when someone needs a little help. Losing your mom is already incredibly hard, and then suddenly having to figure out how to get your life together on your own makes it even harder.

Sometimes, you really don’t have to be rich to help someone. Even sharing some food, giving someone a place to stay, or simply making them feel like they’re not completely alone can mean so much. 🥺

Maybe kindness is not about how much we have to give. Maybe it’s about noticing when someone is struggling and choosing not to look away.
We may not be able to fix someone’s life, but sometimes, simply being there can make their burden feel a little lighter.
