When You Have Nothing Left, God Will Lift You Up

God is in the rescue business.

He knows when you are at your wits’ end, when you have reached the place where your own strength is no longer enough. 

He recognizes when your heart is sore from disappointment, loss, or pain, and He understands the burdens you carry even when you cannot find the words to explain them. 

He sees when your soul is thirsty for peace, comfort, direction, and hope. Nothing about your struggle is hidden from Him, and no tear falls unnoticed in His presence. 

He sees the way ahead, even when all you can see is uncertainty, darkness, or a closed door. When you do not know which way to turn, God already knows the path He is preparing for you. 

He bends His ear to listen when you cry out to Him, whether your prayer is spoken with confidence or whispered through tears. He does not despise a broken heart or a weary soul; instead, He draws near to those who call upon Him. 

In His perfect timing, He reaches down to lift you from the places where you feel trapped, forgotten, or unable to continue. Sometimes His rescue comes by changing the circumstances around us, and sometimes it comes by giving us the strength to walk through them. 

Even when the answer does not come as quickly as we hoped, we can trust that God has not abandoned us. His hands are strong enough to hold us, His wisdom is great enough to guide us, and His love is faithful enough to carry us through. 

So when you feel that you have nothing left, do not give up—lift your eyes toward God and call upon His name. The One who sees you, hears you, and knows you completely is still at work, and He is able to make a way where you cannot yet see one.

When I Thought I Was Alone

Story Time ❤️

When I was a student at UST, I still remember this one rainy night after a theater rehearsal. We finished super late and, since we were inside the auditorium, we didn’t even realize how hard it was raining outside.

The moment we stepped out, we saw that the flood around campus was already knee-deep. 😭

My friends were all heading home in different directions, so eventually, I was left to walk home alone.

There I was, walking through the dark, flooded streets of Dapitan in my school uniform, carrying my backpack and umbrella. It was raining so hard, and honestly, I was scared.

So I just kept praying and talking to Jesus as I walked, like He was right there beside me. I kept asking Him to protect me and keep me safe until I could get out of the flooded area.

Eventually, I reached a part where the water had gone down, so I took a pedicab.

And that’s when the driver told me something I’ll never forget.

He said he had seen me from a distance and actually wanted to pick me up, but he hesitated because he thought I was walking with a man.

I just smiled.

Because I knew exactly who that “man” was. ❤️

Looking back, I realize now that I was never really alone that night.

Jesus was with me—listening to every prayer, walking beside me, protecting me, and guiding me safely home.

And every time I remember that night, I still get emotional. 🥹❤️

It reminds me just how faithful God has been in my life. Even in the moments when I thought I was alone, He was right there with me.

Sometimes, we don’t realize how God is protecting us until we look back and see the little signs He left along the way.

God is faithful. Always. ❤️

Kindness Costs Nothing, But Means Everything

It feels like I somehow absorbed my client’s sadness today.

Just sharing.

There was a client at the bank earlier. There were still quite a lot of people despite the rain. He went straight to my coworker. He said he had an auto loan, but he only handed over his passbook, so my coworker was clueless about what transaction he needed.

She asked him:

Coworker: “Sir, what would you like to do? Are you going to make a payment or a deposit?” while pointing at the passbook

Client: “I only know that I have an auto loan, ma’am. I don’t know how to do it. Maybe you could teach me? I really have no idea what my wife used to do before.”

Coworker: “Maybe it’s enrolled in auto-debit, sir? If it’s on auto-debit, you just need to deposit funds into the account.”

Client: “The thing is, ma’am, our payments are already delayed. It’s been two months. I wasn’t able to take care of it right away because my wife passed away. I don’t know what I should deal with first.”

My coworker couldn’t answer right away because we don’t have access to the loan department, and I think she also didn’t know how to react. I was in the middle of processing something at the time, and I wasn’t even finished yet, but I told her I would handle it instead.

When he handed me his passbook, I checked the name. It was somewhat familiar because someone had been making deposits into that account every month. I figured that person was probably his wife.

He repeated his story to me, so I told him, “It’s okay, sir. Just stay calm. I’ll check it for you.”

He kept apologizing. Aside from there being a lot of people, he genuinely didn’t know what to do. So I reassured him that it was okay and that we would help him through the process.

I explained everything he needed to do—how much he needed to pay in total, when he needed to make the payments, and when he needed to fund his account since it was enrolled in auto-debit.

When everything was done, that was when I finally said, “My condolences, sir. Please stay strong.”

That was when he became a little teary-eyed.

He said losing his wife was so difficult. He didn’t know how to start over or how to move forward, especially because it happened so suddenly. His wife was only 47 years old. She had a heart attack.

I didn’t know what to say, so I just silently prayed for him and for his wife.

Before he left, he asked for my name and told me that, somehow, he felt a little lighter after our conversation. At least one less thing was weighing on his mind.

The client who came after him told me that I was very kind and patient with the previous client.

I just told him, “Being kind is free, sir. It doesn’t cost anything.” :)))

Maybe sometimes, that’s all we can give someone—and sometimes, that little kindness might be what helps save us on days when the weight we’re carrying feels unbearably heavy.

So today, I’m also reminding myself:

Being kind is free.

We never really know what someone else is going through. Some people may be carrying grief, fear, confusion, or pain that we cannot see.

So, whenever we can, be kind.

A little patience, a little understanding, or simply treating someone gently may mean much more to them than we will ever know. :)))

When Life Is Hard, God Is Still With Us

Whatever our circumstances, including great hardship, God never leaves us. We need only to turn to Him.

He does not turn away when life becomes messy, painful, or confusing, in fact, that is often when He draws closest. When we have strength and joy, He rejoices with us. When we are in great hardship, when our hearts are heavy and our plans have fallen apart, He remains steady beside us.

His presence is not dependent on our perfection. We don't have to have the right words, the right attitude, or a life that looks put-together to come to Him. We don't have to earn our way back after we have wandered or failed.

God sees what others cannot see, the silent tears, the sleepless nights, the battles we fight in our own minds. And He does not leave that room. He stays.

What changes everything is our turning. Turning can be as simple as a whispered prayer, a moment of honesty, a surrender that says, "Lord, I cannot do this alone." It is not a long journey back to Him; it is one step, one turning of the heart.

When we turn to Him, we find that He was already there, waiting with grace rather than judgment, with comfort rather than condemnation. He offers peace that doesn't always remove the hardship, but carries us through it. He offers strength when we have none left of our own.

So no matter what you are facing today, loss, fear, loneliness, uncertainty, remember this: you are not abandoned. You are not forgotten. God has never left you, and He never will. You need only to turn to Him, and you will find Him ready to hold you.

Rejection or Redirection?

Detours aren't always rejection, however. They can be divine redirections.

When God says "no," or "not yet," or closes a door we were so sure was meant for us, it is easy to hear it as punishment. We take it personally, as if we were not worthy, not ready, not enough. But what if that closed road is not a sign of His disappointment, but of His protection and His deeper wisdom?

Rather than seeing "no" as punishment and rejection, we can see it as His Spirit-led redirection. His Spirit sees the end from the beginning, the hidden curve in the road that we cannot see. That job that fell through, that relationship that ended, that plan that suddenly unraveled — they were not wasted time. They were His hand gently turning the wheel.

His detours are often pathways to divine appointments. Because He closed one road, you met someone you would have never met. Because one opportunity was denied, you were positioned exactly where you needed to be for the right one to find you. What felt like being held back was actually being held for something better.

The Israelites had to wander before they could enter promise. Joseph had to go through the pit and the prison before the palace. Sometimes the longest way around is still the shortest way to where God is taking your character, not just your career.

Let's not simply trust His direction when the roads are open; let's follow when He closes them too. Trust is easy when the green lights are all lined up. Real faith is believing that the God who opens doors is just as faithful, just as loving, when He closes them. If He is the Lord of the journey, then even the detour is still on the map He drew for you.
