Peace Beyond Striving

>> Saturday, July 25, 2026

Many voices in this world urge us to chase success, wealth, recognition, and happiness by relying solely on our own strength.

They tell us that if we work harder, push further, and hold tightly to our ambitions, we will finally find the life we have always wanted.

Yet God's Word reveals a different path.

The abundant life He promises is not something we can force into existence through human effort alone.

It is a gift that we receive as we surrender our hearts and lives to Him.

When we yield to the Holy Spirit, He transforms our desires so that they align with God's perfect will.

Instead of anxiously striving to secure every blessing on our own terms, we learn to trust that God knows exactly what we need and when we need it.

Walking with the Holy Spirit brings a peace that striving can never produce because our confidence rests in God's faithfulness rather than our own abilities.

As we faithfully follow His leading each day, He shapes our character, strengthens our faith, and opens doors according to His perfect timing.

True joy and lasting fulfillment are found not in desperately grasping for what we want, but in faithfully walking with the One who lovingly provides everything we truly need.

When we surrender control and allow the Holy Spirit to lead our steps, we discover that God's way is always better, His timing is always perfect, and His blessings are far greater than anything we could have achieved by our own strength.

Sometimes God's "No" Is His Greatest Mercy

>> Friday, July 24, 2026

I once heard a testimony from a churchmate. She said that every single day, her prayer was always the same: protection, strength, and direction.

Those were the things she asked God for every day.

"Lord, protect me."

"Lord, strengthen me."

"Lord, guide me."

It was a simple prayer.

But one day, she noticed that her world slowly began to fall apart.

Plans started failing.

Opportunities started disappearing.

And for the first time in a very long time, she became angry with God.

She prayed,

"Lord, why are You allowing this to happen to me?"

"Where did I fall short?"

"I've been praying for so long."

"I've been faithfully serving You."

"I thought You were protecting me."

"Why does everything seem to be going in the opposite direction?"

Because of everything that happened, she slowly fell into depression.

She became bitter toward God.

And for the first time in many years, she walked away from Him.

But life went on.

Years passed.

Then one day, she learned something through a mutual friend.

The company she had desperately wanted to work for—the one she had cried over because she wasn't hired—

had become known for its toxic work culture.

Employees were constantly overworked.

Many experienced burnout.

Many left.

Many resigned because of impossible workloads and poor management.

That night, after such a long time, she knelt down to pray again.

It was the first time she had prayed since she had turned away from God.

And the very first thing she did was ask for His forgiveness.

That's when she realised that the very place she had been begging God to lead her to...

was the very place God had been protecting her from.

The place she pleaded to enter was the exact place God was keeping her away from.

But that wasn't all.

She discovered something else.

The friends who had slowly drifted away from her and left her behind...

she later found out they had been talking about her behind her back.

Not all of them had sincere intentions.

There were conversations she never heard.

Intentions she never saw.

The people she had been loyal to were not loyal to her.

And that was when she finally understood something she had failed to see before.

All that time she thought God wasn't listening...

He had already been answering her prayers.

All that time she thought God was silent...

He had already been at work.

All that time she thought God was punishing her...

He had actually been protecting her.

Just not in the way she expected.

The One Who Holds the Universe Holds You

What holds the world together is not simply the laws of nature or the strength of human effort, but Jesus Christ, the One who created all things and continues to sustain them. He is above creation, yet He lovingly chose to enter the very world He made. Through His life, death, and resurrection, He came to reconcile all things to Himself and restore what sin had broken. This wonderful gift of reconciliation is available to every person who places their faith in Him. No matter how uncertain or chaotic life may seem, we can stand firm because Jesus never changes. He is our constant hope, our faithful Savior, and our secure foundation when everything around us feels unstable. His love reaches beyond our failures, offering forgiveness, grace, and a new beginning. Through His sacrifice, we are no longer defined by our past or condemned by our sins. Instead, Christ promises to present us before God as holy, without blemish, and free from accusation because of His perfect righteousness. Let this truth fill our hearts with peace, strengthen our faith, and remind us each day that our lives are safely held in the hands of the One who holds the entire universe together.

Teachers at a Taiwanese daycare have been accused of drugging children

>> Wednesday, June 21, 2023

Parents in Taiwan have accused teachers at Baoren kindergarten of drugging their children, leading to a scandal that could impact the opposition party's chances in the upcoming presidential election. The teachers allegedly sedated the toddlers with addictive cough syrups, resulting in unusual symptoms and eight children testing positive for psychoactive drugs.
The drugs, phenobarbital and benzodiazepines, are not easily accessible and are believed to have been administered for their sedative properties.
Additionally, one teacher is accused of corporal punishment. The principal and five teachers have been arrested, and the school has been ordered to close and pay a fine. The parent company apologized and pledged to help transfer affected children to other preschools.
Parents criticized the slow response from authorities and protested the handling of the scandal. The mayor, who is a presidential candidate for the opposition party, has faced criticism, and a poll indicated widespread dissatisfaction with his response. The incident has attracted negative reviews and public outcry.
