This year marked the 25th anniversary of the debut of Houston’s film The Bodyguard, and even now, five years after the singer’s death, her absence still looms large.
Aguilera’s medley was ambitious from the start, kicking off with “I Will Always Love You” before moving on to hits including “I Have Nothing” and “Run to You” while images from The Bodyguard played in the background. As typically happens with tribute jams, not everyone liked Aguilera’s occasionally pitchy performance.
