I Hear Your Voice accused of Plagiarism

>> Thursday, July 25, 2013

The Korea Mystery Writers Association released an official stance on its accusations of plagiarism against SBS' I Hear Your Voice.

An official from the Association told enews on July 25, "It is true that we sent an official notice [to SBS] at the request of writer Do Jin Gi, the writer of The Proof of the Devil. We wish to settle this quietly with SBS. Rather than resort to the law, we plan to continue supporting writer Do [Jin Gi]."

The Association had sent a request for an apology to SBS, claiming that the twin murder incident that aired in the fifth and sixth episodes of the drama is similar to an incident that appears in Do Jin Gi's short story The Proof of the Devil, published in November 2012.

In the request, the Association said, "We ask SBS and the production company for a responsible apology. We also ask SBS and the production company to list the name of writer Do Jin Gi and the title The Proof of the Devil at the beginning and end of the drama."

SBS has denied plagiarism claims, saying, "The novel and I Hear Your Voice only share the fact that twins appear in them; the incidents are completely different."
