Abashiri Prison, Japan
Abashiri was one of the country's notorious jails, known for its horrific treatment and torture of prisoners. It has now been made into a 'fun-filled' theme park where tourists can relive many of the experiences of the prisoners.

This abandoned unfinished nuclear power plant just outside Dusseldorf is now a theme park which attracts nearly half a million funseekers every year.
Action Park, New Jersey, USA
This water theme park was notorious because its attention to health and safety in the past was lacking. Six people died on its rides, and accidents became so frequent that the nearby hospital had to supply additional ambulances. It was also well known for its drunk and stoned staff. The park has since reopened with better health and safety measures but its name lives on.

A park that was originally designed for sex education purposes, exhibits include "how to" sex films and giant phalluses.

Five metres underground in the damp still air, this bunker was built during the Communist occupation. The amusement park, also known as 'Stalin's World', recreates life in a Soviet bunker where the guards will even beat you up.
