Print and broadcast journalist Antonio "Tony" Calvento suffered knife wounds on his left hand after a fight with his driver on Sunday night.
According to a dispatch by the San Pedro City Police Station, the incident happened at Calvento's home in Laguna.
In his police statement, Calvento said he asked his helper to call driver Marcelo Marimon Jr. to bet on the last call for a horse race. He said his request was "arrogantly followed."
When Marimon returned home, a heated argument started between him and Calvento, who said the driver pulled out a kitchen knife of around 12.5 inches.
Calvento said he grabbed the knife and sustained a wound on one of his fingers on his left hand. He immediately called his 28-year-old son to help him handle Marimon. They were supposed to handcuff the driver, who managed to flee from the house.
Calvento called the police at 8:06 p.m. to go after Marimon, who remains at large for attempted murder. —Trisha Macas/JST, GMA News
