From Sports Stars To Movie Stars

Mike Tyson has had his fair share of limelight in the boxing ring but now the boxer has also made his mark on the movie world. Mike has featured in the Hangover and The Hangover Part II and he also appeared in Scary Movie 5.





Jason Statham was a high diver before he shot to fame in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.





Former footballer Vinnie Jones' acting career started when he was cast in Guy Ritchie's Lock Stock And Two Smoking Barrels. Since then, the former mid-fielder has starred in many movies including X-Men: The Last Stand and Year One.





Michael Jordan is one of the most famous basketball players of all time, so no one was really surprised when he gave acting a shot. Michael famously appeared as himself in the 1996 film Space Jam.





Mickey Rourke was an amateur boxer before taking up acting and returning to his sport professionally.Not only did he win-over critics with his knock-out performance in The Wrestler but he has since starred in The Immortals and Iron Man 2. We can't wait to see him in the third Expendables movie, set to be released next year.





Before his notorious criminal trial, professional American footballer OJ Simpson starred in several movies including The Towering Inferno, Capricorn One and The Naked Gun.





Basketball megastar Shaquille O'Neal also has a string of movies under his belt. As well as appearing in Scary Movie 4 and Kazaam, he's set to star in the upcoming flick Grown Ups 2.





Former professional American football star Carl Weathers has an impressive array of movies under his belt. Big hits include the Rocky movies and Predator. He's best known these days for starring in the US TV show Arrested Development.





Wrestling superstar, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has proven himself to be a decent actor. The Hollywood star has featured in a string of successful movies, including the Fast and Furious franchise. You'll see him next in Hercules: The Thracian Wars.





Along with his hilarious cameo in The Gremlins 2, wrestler Hulk Hogan has starred in several movies including Gnomeo and Juliet and Mr Nanny.





Mixed Martial Artist Quinton Jackson most recently appeared in The A-Team as B.A. Baracus. One of his upcoming movie projects is called Brass Knuckles - yikes, with a name like that, we have a feeling the film's certainly going to pack a punch...




Gina Carano (pictured here with Dwayne Johnson in Fast and Furious 6) first started out as a Mixed Martial Artist. Not content with the world of sport, Gina then moved into acting. Her first big break was in Haywire and she's set to appear in John Stockwell's upcoming flick In The Blood.





Randy Couture is another movie star who used to be a Mixed Martial Artist. Seen recently in the action-packed Expendables 2, Randy is set to appear in Hard Rush alongside Vinnie Jones. Don't these action types get around?
